Kamaole Point between Kamaole Beaches 2 and 3 is a great quick snorkel spot. This day there were lots of turtles, a Unicorn fish and a Humuhumu (reef trigger fish). Saw the most turtles of any snorkel so far! Below are the most turtle pictures in one blog post so far and the two fish.
Daylight was faintly starting around 5:30 AM and had some interesting shaped clouds. Over the next hour they changed into various interesting configurations. Always nice to start a day with Maui Magic!
Summer days can get hot when the winds slow, but Maui comes to the rescue with many places to cool off. Iao Valley State Park near Wailuku is one of them. Now re-opened after a flooding rain event many locals and visitors come to experience the peaceful, rejuvenating scenery and Wailuku river. Often the clouds mist and get sucked into the mountains. Due to the slower tradewinds it was quite clear. The air felt cool and fresh surrounded by vibrant green mountains. The park has trails with interesting history boards too. Though it is just minutes from Wailuku town it feels like your in a completely different time and place. The soothing sounds and cool water transform you to a relaxed, peaceful state of mind.
Also noteworthy is the Heritage Park on the way in that has small buildings with architecture of the various nationalities of immigrants that came to Maui.
Driving on N Kihei road toward the west Maui mountains some movement caught my eye. I looked over and saw a group of pigs eating stuff in the grass. I pulled over to snap a few shots and they came over to me. A rooster followed. They were all hurriedly grazing on the side of the road sometimes bumping each other out of the way. Fun to get up close and watch these Maui pigs and the tag along rooster.
Loved Maui since the first time here and now it's home. Been convincing people to experience the magic here for years. This place makes you feel so alive and in awe of the beauty. You can look at the same places everyday and see something new. Also you run into interesting people and share good stories and times unexpectedly. This is something that needs to be shared, so here we are! It won't document everything, but things where getting a photo or having the time to write it down is possible will be posted here. Aloha and Mahalo from Maui.
