Morning of the day drive to Lahaina side greeted us with a cool rainbow that had a faint double to it's left side. Late day a funnel shaped raincloud with areas of blue sky touched Haleakala making for an amazing view on the way back from Kahului. A magical end of May day -thank you Maui!
It smelled like rain at sunset, but no rain in Kihei. Which is rare anyway. Could see rain towards Wailuku and out near Kahoolawe. The trade winds were bringing the rain smell from the north side. Upon closer look there was a small amount of rain in the yellow are of the sunset. Beautiful and interesting. Look close in the sun area for the vertical lines which is the rain.
Afternoon calm winds made for a great snorkeling opportunity. Lots of fish, a few bigger than usual and then a last minute decision to stay out longer rewarded me with a cool turtle experience. Got to watch it swim by, rest below and later surface for air and float around. As the occasional wave came in it created some great underwater bubbles. A magical afternoon under the waters of Maui!
Loved Maui since the first time here and now it's home. Been convincing people to experience the magic here for years. This place makes you feel so alive and in awe of the beauty. You can look at the same places everyday and see something new. Also you run into interesting people and share good stories and times unexpectedly. This is something that needs to be shared, so here we are! It won't document everything, but things where getting a photo or having the time to write it down is possible will be posted here. Aloha and Mahalo from Maui.
